Blemishes, Brows and the Sun

Behind the face coverings, there are two things happening: breakouts and brows. Oh, and it’s summer all of the sudden, so of course we need to talk about SPF ✅.

Everyone’s faces are all covered up, and it’s HOT under there. Between the warm weather and your warm breath, your pores are getting clogged, and you’re breaking out, right? Right.

Give iS Clinical’s Cleansing Complex a try. This super gentle, gel based cleanser lightly exfoliates and deeply cleanses, while balancing the skins natural pH. Your skin will feel clean and calm.

Because our masks are covering most of our face, the only thing visible are your pretty peepers, so it only makes sense to frame them up with gorgeous eyebrows. Kelley Baker, a brow makeup brand, makes my personal favorite, can’t-live-without brow products. The Brow Defining Pencil is a retractable, fine tipped pencil that allows you to draw straight lines, and fill easily without making you look like Groucho Marx.

PCA has a slew of great SPFs, but somehow I had never tried the Active Protection Body Broad Spectrum SPF 30 until recently. First off, it’s a non-aerosol spray. Second, it’s water-resistant, and protects up to 80 minutes in the water, or if you’re sweating. Third, it’s reef safe, meaning it doesn’t contain oxybenzone or octinoxate. So it’s not toxic to marine life or coral reefs. Big bonus!

P.S. -- Circling back to the face coverings. A little tip I learned from a fellow esthetician that I thought I’d pass along to you. If you’re feeling like your suffocating or getting claustrophobic under there, grab a menthol cough drop. There’s something about it that helps you breathe easier. I’m not sure if it’s psychosomatic or if it clears your sinuses, or what, but it works.

Peace, love, and joy!
