waxing

Bare skin woman stomach

What to expect from your upcoming wax at SkinQ:

Now, listen - a good razor and shaving cream can be an easy way to get the job done, but you'll just have to repeat the process a couple of days later. At SkinQ we try to make waxing as easy and quick as possible. We use a combination of hard and soft wax  to achieve the best results. For larger areas, such as the back and legs, we have the best invention ever created - the wax roller. This little guy cuts waxing time in half and leaves the skin as smooth as a whistle.

To prep for you appointment, here are some pointers:

  1. Your hair needs to be at least 1/4 inch long - think of a grain of rice.

  2. Exfoliating with a body mitt and exfoliant will remove any dry skin that is trapping the hair follicle. Exfoliate the morning of your appointment.

  3. You cannot be waxed if you're sunburnt! Please reschedule if you've been in the sun or tanning bed a week prior.

  4. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW. Regrowth - your hair grows in different cycles. Normally, after your first wax you will experience new growth a couple of days later. This is not new growth from the hair that was just waxed, but rather, another hair cycle surfacing. It will take a couple of waxes to achieve the ideal smoothness. DO NOT SHAVE! That will only delay the end goal because shaving weakens hair, causing it to become brittle and break during waxing.

After:

It is totally normal to experience sensitivity like redness or irritation. This should subside within 24 hours.

For 24 hours avoid exfoliating, exercise and sweating, tight clothing, and extreme temperatures (saunas, sunbathing, etc.).

Starting 48 hours after, exfoliate the area 2-3 times a week to avoid developing ingrown hairs, and apply ingrown hair treatment to maintain smoothness.
